Setting up your emergency contact information
You can setup emergency information for each user individually. Should an emergency call be made and the caller unable to tell the emergency services their current location the details listed in this setting will be relayed to the emergency service in order to help them find the caller.
911 calls can be made from all sipgate accounts
How to edit your emergency details:
- Click on My Settings and then Phone.
- Click on E911 emergency settings.
- Choose the user for whom you wish to add/edit contact details.
Note: Please keep these details up to date, failure to do so could result in the emergency services being sent to the wrong address, it is therefore extremely important that these details are up to date and correct at all times.
Important: Only when these details are up to date and correct can the emergency services direct the nearest police/fire/ambulance to your location. Failure to keep these up to date can cause the difference between life and death in an emergency situation.

- Should you make an emergency call from a location other than that in your emergency contact details, the emergency services will only be able to reach you should you be able to state your current location whilst making the emergency call.
- Please make sure that you do not have an Automatic local area code selected. This can hinder the emergency services should they need to make a return call. You can find the Automatic local area code setting under My Settings -> Phone -> Advanced Settings
Warning: Test calls to the emergency services hinder the ability of the emergency services to answer genuine 911 calls. Please do not make a 911 test call, 911 calls ARE supported by sipgate. Any costs incurred by sipgate due to 911 test calls will be passed on to the customer. Please also note that making a 911 test call can be considered by the emergency services as a hoax call for which you can be prosecuted.
