Using sipgate with Google Voice

Think about it: Google Voice does little more than forward calls to your existing phones. sipgate is a feature packed VoIP provider. It boasts thousands of cool additional features and yes, it can also ring your existing phones. So before pairing sipgate with Google Voice you should ask yourself this question: "What is the point in doing this?".

Anyway, if you really want to pair Google Voice with sipgate you may go ahead and do so. Please make sure you set up your sipgate account and your SIP enabled phone before taking that confirmation call from Google Voice on your brand new sipgate phone number.

Since sipgate reassigns phone numbers previously owned by other sipgate customers it might happen that Google Voice thinks your phone number belongs to a different person. If this is the case you need to let Google Voice know that you are the new owner of this phone number and plan on using it with their service. There's a form for that:

Please note that the folks over at Google Voice need a little more time to respond than you might be used to, from dealing with us. It might take days or even weeks before your number is freed. We strongly recommend that you use this time to check out sipgate's great service and all of the cool additional features. Who knows - you might even switch to sipgate as a standalone VoIP service!
